BRINGING BROOKLAND BACK

To merely call Brookland a residence would be to overlook its history and all the unique features it has to offer. Originally named Brookland in 1894, due to the vast number of Clearwater brooks in the area, the district of Brookland (now West Columbia) is no stranger to embedding life as usual with the river. Home to mill employees, the newly chartered town birthed a business district and trade center on what is now Meeting Street and a small portion on State Street.  On March 3, 1905, a fire destroyed the Brookland community. Paying homage to its past by “Bringing Brookland Back” we invite you enjoy life as a resident at West Columbia’s NEWEST live-work-play destination.
